Help us battle Cancer
Maybe one of the most painful and
shocking experiences for any person is to find
out that a loved one has being diagnosed with
cancer, but the situation turns specially
difficult when is a child who has been diagnosed
with this terrible disease.
CANICA
(Spanish acronym for Children with Cancer
Support Center) is a non-profit organization
based in Guadalajara with a chapter in Puerto
Vallarta. This chapter is coordinated by Mrs.
Evelia Basañez, President of the Asociación
Femenil Vallartense
A.C. and Mrs. Esther Basañez who is a cancer
survivor herself.
CANICA brings economic help and
emotional support to these little angels from
underprivileged families in Puerto Vallarta.
When it comes to cancer, the
enemy to conquer is not only fear and lack of
information. Therapies
are very expensive and treatments like chemo and
radiation are only provided in hospitals in
Guadalajara, so transportation and
accommodations are only some of the many things
that these children need.
